Behaviour Support Practitioner

Sharon is a Registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner and Specialist Educator (Complex Behaviour) with more than twenty years of experience in NSW public education across specialist and mainstream settings. Her background in teaching gives her a practical understanding of how behaviour, learning and relationships interact, and of the systems children, young people and families have to navigate.
Her practice is trauma-informed, relational and strengths based. She works alongside participants, families and support networks to understand what behaviour is communicating, and to build strategies that are respectful, achievable and the least restrictive option available.
She is particularly committed to supporting carers, recognising that a plan only works if the people delivering it can sustain it day to day.
Sharon has specialised training in trauma-informed practice, including the Berry Street Education Model, and also works as a psychotherapist in private practice in the Illawarra.
Sharon holds a Master of Counselling and Psychotherapy, a Graduate Diploma in Counselling, a Bachelor of Education and a Bachelor of Communications (Media and Journalism).
